INSPECTION NEW RENOVATE BUILDING

Today (22 June 2022 ) We had a site visit at new renovate office for the whole unit level. Our team SHI Supply and Consultation already made a discussion and investigation about Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in the building

During the investigation, our client complaint about the smell of glue is too strong. This is because of the 100 % modification of internal structure, Installing Partition and new carpet installation  can be the main reason that caused the building to have a glue smell

This can cause the rate of safety, health and employee performance also can be affected. It can also give you headache, vomiting, hard to breathe, chest pain and asthma attack

INFORMATION INDOOR AIR QUALITY ASSESSMENT BEFORE DUCTING CLEANING WORK

After doing indoor air quality assessment and have the result. Normally the assessor will gave comment or recommendation as shown analysis in report that take.

If the report recommendation assessor eventually have ducting system issue, inspection in ducting system need to do, too ensure the internal insulation fiber not ware and identify the dirty in ducting system for make it easier to planning and corrective work.

If the repairing and corrective work doesn’t make then the ducting cleaning will be waste money because the fiber ware did not repair and the fiber will spread at all of ducting system and it can harm the employee and other people inside the building

iNDOOR AIR QUALITY DEFINITION

Indoor air quality is the air quality within and around building and structures. IAQ is known to affect the health, comfort, and well-being of building occupants. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to sick building syndrome, reduce productivity and impaired learning in schools. Common pollutants of indoor air include: secondhand tobacco smoke, air pollutants from indoor combustion, radon, molds and other allergens, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, legionella and other bacteria, asbestos fibers, carbon dioxide, ozone and particulates. Source control, filtration, and the use of ventilation to dilute contaminants are the primary methods for improving indoor air quality in most building.

Determination of IAQ involves the collection of air samples, monitoring human exposure to pollutants, collection of samples on building surfaces, and computer modelling of air flow inside building. IAQ is part of Indoor environmental quality (IEQ). Which includes IAQ as well as other physical and psychological aspects of life indoors

WHY INDOOR AIR QUALITY IS IMPORTANCE NOWADAYS ?

Breathing quality indoor air is critical for a good health. Most spend a significant amount of time indoors-either in the home, office or other types of building where gases, chemicals and other pollutant can cause headaches, eye irritation, allergies and fatigue

Breathing is our first instinctive action and the most natural thing we do, over 20,000 times a day in fact. When we start to think about the air we breathe and the quality of the air we are breathing we tend to think about the pollution in the air outdoors caused by carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides from vehicles and factories.

However, the air inside our homes can be up to 5 times more polluted than the air outdoors. The majority of people recognize the health concerns around outdoor air pollution, but few people consider the potential dangers around the exposure to poor indoor air quality despite it having the same negative health effects

There can be up to 900 toxins polluting the quality of our indoor air and over 81% of people are at risk of respiratory or dermatological conditions due to poor indoor air quality so it is important to think about how this may be affecting our health and look at ways to improve the air indoors.

These indoor air pollutants can have serious long term health affect on our bodies. We know there is a direct correlation between smoking and health effects like heart disease, however indoor pollution can also cause respiratory problems.
